5 Reasons NOT To Move To Mid Michigan

Stop right there! We heard you’re thinking about making the HUGE life decision to move up to one of Michigan’s hidden gems that reside in Mid Michigan!

Are you sure you want to make a place where life moves a little slower, people know your dog’s name, and everyone secretly owns a snowmobile your home?
Before you make that decision, make sure you read the following totally reasonable reasons – emphasis on the sarcasm.

1. THe peace and quiet is too aggressive

The absence of “urban hustle”, tons of sirens, and traffic is kind of annoying, honestly. It’s kind of horrifying to think about only hearing birds chirping, the swaying of trees in the wind, and the occasional lawnmower in your backyard.

2. There's going to be some "cute little shop" stealing your money

And you might rationalize buying more than you need because it’s “supporting a family-owned business!” One day, it’s handcrafted maple syrup. The next day it’s a vintage sign that says “Lake Life.” Blink and you’ve redecorated your entire house in rustic farmhouse chic.

3. You might accidentally develop hobbies

Whether taking up mountain biking and mastering The Dragon Trial, or fishing along the Muskegon River or kayaking around the rivers and inland lakes nearby, the area practically forces you to pick up a wholesome pastime.

4. Winters are terrifyingly beautiful

Snowflakes the size of pancakes, frozen lakes, and snowmobiles legally passing you on the road. It’s like living inside a snow globe someone occasionally shakes too hard.

5. you'll end up staying forever

You’ll tell people you moved for more space and then start saying things like “I never thought I’d love a slow pace of life and towns with one stoplight so much.”

Did the charm of Mid Michigan get you?

If you still want to pack your bags and head north after reading this, just know you’re walking into a lifestyle filled with potlucks, front porch sitting, and saying things like, “The trees are really turning this year.” You might as well just give us a call and we can start finding the home and community that is right for you in the Mid Michigan area.

But just remember, you were warned about this trap of small-town living!
